Raktim Roy, Ph.D.
Assistant Research Professor
About Raktim Roy
I am a Scripps Fellow and a new PI. I am always excited about science and I enjoy a multitude of problems related to structural biology as well as questions that relate to the origin of life!
I like to think of the problem of ‘Origin of Life’ as an onion! It can be defined in so many ways: What was the first molecule that could self-replicate? What was the first cell like? What was the first template? And so on…
My interests in Non-Ribosomal Peptide Synthetase (NRPS) research stemmed from the ideas of template-free synthesis. Having done some research on the canonical peptide synthesis machinery (The Ribosome), I am thoroughly excited to discover more about the intricacies of the NRPS system with my lab.
